Walter Clyde Pearson是美国职业扑克玩家。他最有名的成就是在1973年获得WSOP冠军。

Pearson在美国田纳西州出生和长大，家里有9个兄妹。他在12岁时曾在一次意外中损伤了鼻子，因此得到了"Puggy"的昵称。5年级时，Pearson退学回家。17岁，Pearson加入美国海军，服役三届。他在服役期间加强了扑克和菠菜技术。

1949年以前，所有的扑克游戏都是现金游戏，玩家可以随时把筹码兑现后离开。Pearson在20世纪50年代最早提出freezeout锦标赛的想法，并把他的想法与赌客"Nick the Greek" Dandolos分享。之后 Dandalos s把这个想法带到了传奇的俱乐部所有人Benny Binion那里。Pearson, Amarillo Slim和Doyle Brunson一直觉得这种锦标赛模式能创造更伟大的现金游戏，因此极力呼吁。1970年，Binion创办了WSOP。
